Multi-route Setup Tutorial

Users who have used broadband routers know that the port on the broadband router has a WAN port and a LAN port. Broadband routers have a feature in the work process: data flows from LAN to WAN are unrestricted by default through routers, and cannot be passed by default from Wan to LAN direction. (Note: The wireless access portion of the wireless broadband router is subordinate to the LAN range) that is, by default, the packets sent from the computer on the LAN enter the LAN port of the router, which can be sent from the WAN through the router smoothly, but after the active packets from the WAN have entered the WAN port, Routers do not allow those packets to pass by default.

This document describes the configuration method when there are two broadband routers in the LAN (this documentation is illustrated with a wired router tl-r406 and a wireless router tl-wr841n for example).

First the IP address of the PC2 is configured to 192.168.1.X (X takes the natural number range 2-254), through the http://192.168.1.1 into the wr841n management interface, in "Network Parameters"-"LAN port Settings", Change LAN port IP address to: 192.167.1.1 (Note: This address can be changed to and the original address section of the arbitrary intranet address), save and restart the router.

Next, modify the IP address of the computer to 192.167.1.X (X takes the natural number range 2~254).

Once again through the http://192.167.1.1 address into the WR841N management community to configure the WAN port, this mode of connectivity requires the WR841N configuration interface in the WAN settings in the configuration of static IP, the parameters are as follows:

IP address: 192.168.1.X (X take natural number range 2~254)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

Note: This way, after connecting the router R406 the following computer can not be exchanged with the computer under wr841n through the Internet neighbors.

This connection is not necessary to configure the WAN port because it does not use the wr841n Wan, only the following sections are configured:

First, you need to turn off the wr841n DHCP server feature (select "Do not enable", click Save and restart the router).

Second, change wr841n LAN port IP address (and tl-r406 LAN port address in the same network segment), such as: 192.168.1.254, as long as the IP address is not used by other computers.

Next is the wireless or wired way to connect wr841n and computers, the above two-step configuration after the wr841n is equivalent to a "wireless switch", so wired or wireless connection to the computer above the wr841n TCP/IP properties to be consistent with r460+! The equivalent of these computers are directly connected to the computer below the R406lan port, the computer's TCP/IP property parameters are configured as shown in the following figure:

Of course, for convenience, you can also select the computer's network connection TCP/IP parameters to automatically obtain the IP address and DNS server address.

Through the above configuration, you can achieve intranet multiple routers under the computer sharing Internet.
