My Learning of COM and ATL

First, I declare that I am not a master of COM/ATL. Although I have been in contact with them for four years, I have not been able to conduct in-depth research and use them extensively for some reasons at work. However, it is a bit difficult to look back at their painful experiences. Here, I would like to share with you how to learn them, so as to reduce the detours for later users.
I personally think it is not easy to learn com. Only by understanding each viewpoint and theory step by step can we truly understand its essence. In this way, you can solve the problem with your own knowledge when an error occurs. I personally think that if you want to learn COM/ATL well for less than a year, it will certainly not work. Maybe I am stupid. I personally think that it is necessary to perform a step-by-step approach for COM/ATL. You can refer to the following Bibliography:
1. c ++ Primer: learning the C ++ language. We mainly understand the inheritance, overload, polymorphism, multi-inheritance, virtual functions, pure virtual functions, and C ++ templates among them, which are the basis for future study of COM. Because c ++ fully supports the implementation of COM, only C ++ can implement all COM functions, reflecting its infinite charm. Many books use C ++ to explain the principles of COM. To demonstrate that com uses multiple inheritance and pure virtual functions of C ++, MFC uses Nested classes to implement COM, and ATL uses multiple inheritance to implement COM. Do not consider these foundations unimportant. Many people do not know what pure virtual functions are among the many class C ++ experts who inherit and load them? What is a virtual function table? How is it stored in memory? What about the derived class?
2. Windows Programming-understanding the nature of Windows programming, related API usage, Windows program structure, and message passing mechanism. If you want to develop your com program on Windows and learn something essential, it will certainly be helpful for your later development.
3. Learn about MFC and understand the knowledge of MFC encapsulation and the framework of MFC. I personally think that it is very important to study the author's analysis method of the program through this book. This will help you not lose your way in the code generated by the various Wizard of ATL.
4. "COM technology insider"-a good description of the principles of COM, I will not emphasize its importance in the study of COM. I personally have read it four times, and each time I have gained some benefits. A good book must be read over and over again. Maybe my comprehension ability is poor. Maybe the author is a foreigner. It is not easy for Chinese people to accept the way of describing things, ^_^.
5. "Principles and Applications of com"-the author uses the methods and languages used by Chinese people to accept and understand things. As usual, this allows you to understand the principles of com again, the second half of the book introduces more advanced applications of COM. These practical applications allow readers to see a glimmer of practical use from the preaching of the numerous theoretical knowledge of COM, people are eager to try.
6. "com Essence Theory"-Let you see the essence through phenomena. If you do not read this book from com, I cannot believe that you are doing COM programming. I personally think this book is the best book to learn about com. It is amazing, especially the first few chapters will make you shine. The description of the suite in the book makes me confused for a long time and has been the best solution. However, to learn this book, you must have a good C ++ Foundation and a good understanding of the language in which foreigners describe things.
7. In-depth analysis of ATL-a book introducing the essence of ATL. By combining the explanations in this book with the analysis macros and program analysis methods you have learned from "let alone MFC", you will surely have a deeper understanding of COM and ATL.
8. essence of IDL-a bunch of tianshu-like IDL files generated by MFC and ATL for you, allowing you to add and modify tools to use them.
9. COM programming highlights-do not read the first few chapters of the book. The professional foundation of the translator is too poor. The examples provided in the book are wonderful. More close to the actual use!
Well, I think this is enough for the Basic Books. As for the study of DCOM and COM +, It is a post and requires more knowledge. Hehe, I am still saying "Believe in books as well as have no books". The theory of COM is developing, and some theories in the book may be outdated. So if you have any questions, therefore, you must perform a hands-on test to learn more solidly.
