MyEclipse supports Java EE technologies such as JAX-WS and EJB 3.0, which are available in the form of feature packs for WebSphere 6.1, but are not out of the box. This guide will guide you through the installation of WebSphere 6.1, feature packs, and updates. In this guide, you will:
- Install WebSphere 6.1 and update
- Disabling Windows system services running WebSphere at startup
- Installing Web services, EJB feature packs, and updates

Ix. Installing the EJB 3.0 Feature Pack
The final step in this tutorial is to install the EJB 3.0 Feature Pack for WebSphere application Server 6.1. The installation of this package is the same as the Web Service Feature pack installation.
1. Unzip the compressed zip file, and then run Install.exe or insert the CD/DVD into the computer and do the same (if the installer does not start automatically). The installer files are located in the EJB 3.0 folder. When you run Setup, you see that the Welcome page is the same as any other setup program.
2. Click Next on each wizard page to confirm the WebSphere installation location and eventually agree to start the installation of the summary page. When the installation is complete, the wizard displays a summary of the installation.
3. Click Finish to open the Profile management tool.
10. Manage Your configuration
Now that you have installed all of the update and feature packs for WebSphere 6.1, you have two options for using the new technology:
- Create a new profile based on the feature Pack
- Extend the existing profile and increase support for one of the toolkits
10.1 Adding configuration Files
1. Start the profile Management Tool from the Start menu.
2. Click Augment.
3. Select the profile you want to expand and click Next.
4. Select the extension that you want to apply to the profile, and then click Next.
Note: When you proceed to this step, WebSphere 6.1 appears to have an error, so the existing configuration file can only be augmented with the EJB 3.0 Feature Pack instead of the Jax-WS Feature Pack. The only way to get JAX-ws support is to create a new configuration file based on the feature pack.
WebSphere makes the necessary changes (it may take a few minutes).
10.2 Creating a new configuration file
1. Start the profile Management Tool from the Start menu.
2. Click Create, and then click Next.
3. Select the feature you want to base your new profile on, and then click Next.
Note: You cannot use an EJB 3.0 configuration file with Jax-ws extensions When you proceed to this step. To create a configuration file that uses these two feature packs, you must first create a JAX-ws configuration file and then extend it using the EJB 3.0 Feature Pack.
This process generates a new configuration file for WebSphere based on the platform technology you choose. You can use configuration files or further extend other features.
