According to a recent user survey by Oracle, open-source software is occupying the installation share of Oracle Database software, and about 60% of IT facilities are using some form of open-source software.

The survey conducted by the Independent Oracle user group (IOUG) found that the vast majority of open-source applications are at the edge of enterprise application software, such as network servers or single functional servers.

Kaplan, president and CEO of Oracle user group, said MySQL is the most popular open source software to replace oracle. According to a survey of 269 users, MySQL accounts for 33% of users. Then there are PostSQL users, accounting for 9%.

The survey also shows that 1/3 of respondents believe that the maintenance and support of open source software is increasingly becoming a problem. IT managers still require oracle or third-party support companies to provide technical support for open-source software, and they require the Oracle team to help solve the technical defects of open-source software.

According to the Survey Report, the vast majority of respondents said that maintenance and technical support are important issues, but open-source software did not propose solutions as effective as commercial products.

The survey also found that small companies are most willing to use open-source software databases, and Oracle has been using the Express edition database to enter the small business market.
