MySQL root user forgot password reset method under Windows

Open 2 command-line windows at the same time and do the following:

<1> In the first command line window enter:

CD D:\Program files\mysql\mysql Server 5.5\bin net stop MySQL Mysqld--skip-grant-tables

<2> In the second Command Line window, enter:

CD D:\Program files\mysql\mysql Server 5.5\bin Mysql-uroot-p mysql> Update Mysql.user Set Password=password ("New password") where user= "root"; mysql> flush Privileges; Mysql> exit net start MySQL
