MySQLDumper: a convenient MySQL backup, restoration, and management tool

MySQLDumper is a PHP management script for backing up and recovering MySQL databases. It is easy to use. It is mainly used to manage MySQL databases for users who cannot directly operate the server, such as free space and shared hosts. Even if you can directly operate the server, the efficiency of using the mysqldump command may not be higher and more convenient than MySQLDumper.

Compared with similar PHP script backup/recovery tools such as Empirebak, BigDump, and PHPMyAdmin, MySQLDumper is the top choice.

Compared with PHPMyAdmin, PHPMyAdmin has less powerful database management capabilities. However, the industry specializes in MySQL data backup and restoration. With just a few clicks, you can back up and restore the database. It is easier to operate than PHPMyAdmin and responds quickly.

MySQLDumper was designed to solve problems such as the difficulty of backing up large databases, slow downloading of large databases, and easy interruption of downloading because PHP files cannot be executed for more than 30 seconds in most space, therefore, the backup and restoration operations of large databases are well supported. The AJAX technology is used to make the progress display more intuitive. Unlike PHPMyAdmin, the backup is not completed directly.

A test was conducted to back up a database with 13 Tables, 630885 data records, and a size of 20.66 MB, which took 1 minute and 19 seconds, and backed up to 3.60 MB after compression, as shown in:

• Supports FTP automatic transmission of backup files to remote servers. Up to three remote servers can be set.
• E-mail backup, you can send the backed up database to your mailbox by email (disabled by default)
• Supports Gzip compression for backup to make backup files smaller
• Supports restoring Gzip compressed files to save bandwidth
• Multiple backups are retained. You can set the maximum number of backups. If this limit is exceeded, the old backup is deleted (disabled by default)
• Use the. htaccess file to implement access restrictions without a built-in authentication system. If the server does not support. htaccess, MySQLDumper is not recommended.
• Record operation logs for easy viewing
