Synology NAS Storage First-use guide
Note: Different models of the front and rear panel design is not the same. The devices used in the guide are unified as ds1511+; this does not affect the use of the software, the use of the Software interface is unified DSM management.
One: According to the installation manual, the NAS (memory) installed on the hard disk, connect the network cable, plug in the power, and press the front Panel boot button (see figure 1,2), boot nas. Figure 1, 2.

Three: Find your system corresponding to the directory (where the default user to use for Windows system), into the Windows directory, below a directory name is dsassistant, enter this directory, click the executable (dsassistant). The pop-up interface is shown in Figure 4:

Four: Select the search to the server name (not checked, online is gray), click on "Online" (If the "Installation" shown here, according to the prompts, install DSM,DSM files under the CD under the DSM directory, suffix name is "Pat" file, Select the attention must choose with your NAS matching DSM system files, DSM installation instructions, and then automatically open your browser, the interface will be prompted to enter the user name and password, username is: "admin", the password is empty. When you come in, you see the management interface of the NAS as shown in Figure 5

Five: After you come in, look at the DSM instructions to turn on settings (configuration) services and applications according to the needs of individuals or companies.
FAQ
1: I opened the dsassistant, but I can't find the device.
This situation should be a network problem, first make sure that you have NAS started, and that the network light is green and flashing. So try again, if you still can't search, make sure your network environment is on the same LAN. Check to see if your computer can connect to the same network environment as the NAS.
2: I have selected the device, but it is still not online.
In this case, it should be that the state of the NAS is not ready. That is, the status bar information does not display "ready." Wait until the device is ready to go online again. If the status information shows "DSM not Installed", select the device, click Install, and then install DSM as prompted.
