Each time information is shared and transmitted with intranet users, "Network neighbors" will be used. Of course, by default, the system's "Network neighbors" function is very limited, if you want to share the transfer with your friends on the Intranet more efficiently and securely, you must find ways to tap into the potential of "Network neighbors. This is not the case. This article aims to help you use the "Network Neighbor" function and specifically set up the Registry to enhance the "Network Neighbor" function!
Hide "computer nearby"
By default, when the system's network neighbor window is opened, you will see the icon of a nearby computer in it. Double-click the icon to access the shared resources of a nearby computer. If you do not want the Internet neighbor window to contain a nearby computer icon, you can hide it as follows:
Click the "Start"/"run" command, and then execute the Registry Editing Command "regedit" in the pop-up dialog box to open the system registry editing interface;
Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer registry sub-keys one by one in the window area to the right of the sub-keys, check whether there is a double byte value named "NoComputersNearMe". If it does not exist, you can right-click the blank area of the right window, then, right-click the "new"/"Dword Value" command in the pop-up menu, and name the newly created key value "NoComputersNearMe", as shown in 1;

Next, double-click the created "NoComputersNearMe" key value with the left mouse button, enter "00000001" in the Value Setting dialog box that appears, and click "OK" to exit the registry editing window, at the same time, restart the computer system so that when you open the network neighbor window again, you will no longer see the icon "my computer nearby.
Hide Local Computer
By default, the neighborhood window displays the icon of the Local Computer. When you double-click the icon, you can access the shared information in the local system. If you want the local shared information not to be accessible by other users in the LAN, you can use the following method to remove the Local Computer icon from the network neighbor window:
Click the "Start"/"run" command, and then execute the Registry Editing Command "regedit" in the pop-up dialog box to open the system registry editing interface; expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ LanManServer \ Parameters registry sub-key in sequence on the interface, as shown in Figure 2. Check whether the "Hidden" key value exists under the Parameters sub-key, if not, right-click the Parameters item and choose "New"/"Dword Value" from the shortcut menu, set the newly created double byte value name to "Hidden", set its value to "1", and click "OK" to exit the registry editing page, at the same time, restart the computer system so that when you open the network neighbor window again, you will not see the Local Computer shadow!

Hide recent access traces
If you are using a Windows 2000 operating system or a system later than 2000, you will find that the system's network neighbor window seems to have Intelligent Memory capabilities, it automatically displays all the names of some recently accessed shared folders, even if the sharing status of those shared folders has been canceled, others will also see the shared names in the network neighbor window. To effectively protect your shared access privacy, follow these steps to hide recent shared access traces:
Click Start or run to open the system running dialog box. Enter the string command regedit and press enter to open the system registry editing window; expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer registry sub-key in the interface, and check whether the "NoRecentDocsNetHood" dual-byte value exists under the Explorer sub-key, if it does not exist, right-click the Explorer sub-key and select "new"/"DWORD Value" from the shortcut menu that appears, set the new key value name to "NoRecentDocsNetHood", and change the value to "00000001", as shown in 3. After completing the preceding setting task, refresh the system registry, you can hide all the sharing traces of previous access from the neighborhood window.

If you are using a Windows 9X operating system, you need to expand the Registry branch HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Network \ Recent one by one, and then under the corresponding Recent key value, you will find all recent shared access traces. In this case, you only need to select them and run the DELETE command separately to clear all the access traces in the network neighbor window.
Hide network neighbor ing
When you access Shared Resources in the Internet neighbor window, you can also right-click a target shared folder by clicking the share folder icon, then, right-click the pop-up menu and run the ing network drive command to map the remote shared folder to a disk partition at a cost, in the future, you will be able to quickly access the content in the remote folder like accessing files on the local disk.
