Network configuration for Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus's network features:

1. Connectivity: provides IP-level connectivity for virtual machines.

2. IP control: in System mode, the DHCP server assigns IP to the virtual machine, and other modes assign IP to the virtual machine by Eucalyptus.

3. security Groups : A set of network access rules provided for a set of virtual machines, similar to firewalls.

4. Elastic IPs: dynamically assigns a public IP address to a virtual machine.

5. Metadata service : enables users to access information about a running virtual machine instance.

6. VM Isolation: Isolate network traffic between different security group virtual machines.

Eucalyptus network mode:

1. SYSTEM: This mode is suitable for user settings that want to use eucalyptus on a desktop or notebook. Before the node VM instance is started, Euca assigns a random MAC address to each instance, and the Ethernet device of the virtual instance is connected to the physical Ethernet through the node-local Xen bridging program.

2. STATIC: for users who have the MAC/IP resource pool and want to assign MAC/IP address pairs to the virtual machine instance at any time. When the virtual machine is instantiated, Euca will open the DHCP server statically to remove the next Ip/mac address pair. The Ethernet device of the virtual instance is connected to the physical Ethernet through a node-local Xen bridge.

3. MANAGED: user-defined a custom-named network, virtual machine instance from this network to obtain IP, and static mode, the user can manage and assign a static IP slot, in addition, An administrator can define an external rule for a custom network and apply it to all instances belonging to the network. This part of the functionality is similar to Amazon's resilient IP mechanism.

4. Managed-novlan: provides the characteristics of MANAGED mode's dynamic IP and custom network, but does not support the isolation between virtual LANs.
