Network share restore in Windows 2003

You must remember the Windows XP System Restore function, but it can only return the original machine files, on the shared file is powerless. This problem is solved with the introduction of the Windows Server 2003 operating system. This little thing is the Volume Shadow Copy service of Windows Server 2003 (Volume Shadow Copy services), which creates replica files for files stored in a network share file at predetermined intervals. Once the shared files are maliciously modified or corrupted, users can be based on these copies of the file to restore, is not very convenient, we use it together!

First step: Enable the shadow Copy service. In the Windows Server 2003 system. Open My Computer, right-click the partition on the hard disk where the shared folder is located, and note that this partition must be an NTFS file system. Select Properties, then switch to the Shadow Copies tab, select the hard disk partition in the Options box, and then tap the Enable button so that the shadow Copy service is enabled.

Step Two: Adjust the Create copy file time interval parameter. By default, the Windows Server 2003 Shadow Copy service can only create two replicas per day, which does not meet our needs at all. On the Shadow Copies tab, click the Settings button, then click on the "Schedule" button, and finally click the "Advanced" button in the "Schedule" box, select the "Repeat Tasks" option (pictured) in the Advanced Plan Options dialog box to set the time interval parameters for creating replicas. The user is set up based on the importance of the shared file. If set to every "10 minutes" to produce a copy, note that time interval parameters do not set too small, otherwise it will aggravate the burden on the server.

Step three: The user uses the shadow copy feature. To install the shadow copy client program first on the client, it is located in the "%systemroot%\system32\clients\twclient\x86\ Twcli32.msi" of the Win2003 server and supports only Windows master (SP3 or later) and Windows XP customer operating system. The shadow copy feature is available after the client installation is complete. Locate the server share that you want to restore on the client computer. Right-click, select "Properties", switch to the "Previous version" tab, then in the "folder Version" box based on the time to select a copy of the file you need, click the "Restore" button, so that the folder back to its original state.
