New features and functions of openstack grizzly
Nearly 230 new features involved computing, storage, network, and sharing services.
Openstack computing virtualization-computing uses "cells" to manage distributed clusters, and uses the "nodb" Host Architecture to reduce dependency on central databases. Virtualization management also provides new features and manages various virtual machines.ProgramAll provide better support, including ESX, KVM, xen and hyper-v. In addition, the new computing version includes bare metal supply, shared storage protocols, hot addition/deletion of network devices, and other online network functions.
Openstack Object Storage Service-cloud operators can now use quotas to automatically control the growth of their object storage environments. In addition, the batch operation function makes it easier to deploy and manage large clusters, thus providing better experience for end users. Cross-origin Resource Sharing (CORS) allows browsers to directly connect to the backend storage environment, improving the performance and scalability of Network-integrated Object Storage clusters.
Openstack Block Storage-as the second complete version of the openstack block storage component, this update provides a complete set of storage services for managing heterogeneous storage environments from a centralized access point. A new smart scheduler provides cloud end users with the ability to allocate storage space based on loads, which can be defined based on performance, efficiency, or cost effectiveness. At the same time, this update provides support for more types of backend storage devices, including CEpH/RBD, coraid, EMC, HP, Huawei, IBM, netapp, RedHat/gluster, solidfire and zadara.
Openstack network-this update includes advanced network automation, and supports the following network virtualization platforms: Big switch, hyper-V, plumgrid, brocade, midonet, etc, this allows you to flexibly and independently select the appropriate virtualization network technology. Previously, openstack has provided support for open vswitch, Cisco UCS/nexus, Linux bridge, nicira, Ryu openflow, NEC openflow, and other technologies. By cross-server allocation of L3/L4 and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services, the openstack network achieves larger scale and higher availability. In addition, the new version provides a new load balancing as a service (lbaas) framework and API to facilitate the integration of other network companies with openstack.
Openstack dashboard-openstack dashboard has been improved in terms of user experience, provides support in more languages, and adds new function portals, such as networks and lbaas. The Grizzly dashboard is backward compatible with the Folsom version.
Openstack Certification Service-a new token format based on the standard PKI function is adopted this time. The performance of the new version is greatly improved compared with the previous version, in addition, the client can perform offline Token Authentication without calling the authentication service. Openstack identity authentication also provides more organized management for multi-tenant environments, supports group, simulation, role-based access control (RBAC), and more detailed permission settings.
Openstack Image Service-provides two new features: images that can be shared by common users, and a set of common attributes for images to facilitate image retrieval and discovery, and faster image retrieval.
