As we all know, GIS mainly uses graphs to speak. Therefore, plotting is a very important component of GIS. We all know that remote sensing images are a very important data source of GIS, remote sensing data is not only a GIS data source. Many GIS analyses are completed based on images, such as slope, slope aspect, and mountain impression. Let's take a look at it one by one.

1.Add content

As we mentioned earlier, this is an age where Web GIS is widely used. This also means that we have a wealth of resources to use. In our traditional function of loading data, now we can add resources from the Internet, such as geographical map and abundant resources on ArcGIS online, online geographic maps are a good choice for us when we are doing our applications, but there is a lot of resources on ArcGIS online, which will include resources shared by giser around the world.

2. Search window

We produce information and data every day. When you need this data one day, you may need to traverse the file system layer by layer, which is time-consuming and laborious, now, the search window is added to ArcMap 10. This window can not only search resources on local machines, but also search resources within the enterprise (LAN) and ArcGIS online, if I have many resources, it may take a long time for this kind of search because the pre-index technology is used, that is to say, you can create an index for the place you want to index at a fixed period. Therefore, even if you are dealing with massive data, the search speed can be basically real-time feedback.

This window can not only search resources, but also be used for search tools. The arctoolbox to version 10 provides over 750 tools, searching is a good choice.

3. Intelligent legend (TOC)

The content list is a map column. In ArcMap 10, we can say that TOC is a smart legend. Why. You are familiar with the layer display sequence and arrangement by data source location. The TOC of ArcMap 10 adds the 2-in display mode, and the display mode is based on the layer visibility, the other is display according to the selectivity.

The reason is that it is a smart legend, because TOC always reports the State of the layers in the current map window and can change with the operation in real time. For example, some layers have a display scale, that is, it is not displayed at certain scales and only within a certain scale. When you operate a map, you will find that the content in the TOC display page dynamically varies according to the layer visibility, and you can set whether the layer is visible with one click.

When selecting map elements, ArcMap 10 also provides a variety of options, which can be selected using a plug-in tool, as well as line and circle selection elements, each layer has several selected elements, which can be quickly displayed in the new display by selectivity. When editing, we usually select multiple elements in the same position, however, we often need to edit the elements in the layer. In the past, we usually close the layers that do not need to be selected and then select them. Now, more options are provided in ArcMap 10, one is to set whether the layer can be selected by pressing a key in the layer selection display in the smart legend, and the other is to select the layer by using the mini toolbar during editing, which will be mentioned later in editing. Therefore, it is very practical to arrange layers according to the layer selectivity.

In some cases, we need to know the spatial distribution of data in the space layer to determine the rationality of the data and the completion of data production. Usually we need to zoom in to this layer, open the Attribute Table of the layer, select all elements, and select elements through the attribute to highlight all elements on the map. Such a combination of operations can fulfill our requirements, but it may not be complicated. Now, in the two newly added views of TOC, you can click on the symbol icon of the layer, whether by layer visibility or by layer optionality, the symbols of this layer are zoomed in and highlighted with 2 flashes, so that we can easily understand the data distribution.

4. See search again (symbol search)

Users who know about our products know that the ArcGIS desktop product comes with more than 20 thousand symbol libraries, which provides a rich selection for element expression, however, so many symbols have brought about a certain amount of work for our selection. Although their built-in symbols are organized in a tree directory, however, we also need to traverse by class to find the symbols we need. Currently, ArcMap 10 provides the keyword-based search symbol function to quickly and accurately locate the symbols we need.
