New kernel 2.6.24-general Linux technology-Linux programming and kernel information. For details, refer to the following section. I am bored today, so I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.24. We accidentally found a debian-logo kernel patch in the source to replace the default tux bootup logo with the debian logo. I tried it and the effect was good.
In fact, the original intention was to launch bootsplash. Although bootsplash has been replaced by the splashy project, the official bootsplash will not release new patches since 2.6.21, but it can still be downloaded to unofficial patches, it is 2.6.23, but 2.6.24 also applies. So I typed debian-logo and bootsplash patches. However, I have found many articles about bootsplash configuration that do not select the bootup logo if the bootsplash kernel option is selected. It seems that the two cannot coexist. Anyway, I think bootsplash was okay. I just tried splashy, so I chose the bootup logo and the debian logo.
It's strange to say that I don't know whether the kernel is aggravated or my system is slowed down. It took me more than three hours to compile the kernel, and it took me nearly four hours to compile the kernel, the kernel is also the largest in history. After reading the content in the/boot directory, we found that both vmlinuz and initrd. img versions are larger than one version. Linux kernel is getting fatter and fatter.
After a long compilation is completed and restarted, The bootup logo and bootsplash cannot coexist. To be accurate, the bootup logo and bootsplash cannot work at the same time, because both compilation is correct. The debian bootup logo can be seen in the upper left corner, but the bootsplash will not work. Let me try splashy again. I have tried splashy in the past, and there are many problems. This has caused the failure of automatic start of the system. This time, let's see if it has any improvement. Because I am currently using kdm, it seems that splashy does not make kdm unable to start automatically, but the effect of splashy cannot be compared with bootsplash. Ah, who makes the kernel space not popular this year. Simply don't. The debian logo is nice to see. It is displayed in the upper left corner of the startup. The following characters are scrolling, adding a touch of color to the startup process.
