New NVIDIA drivers bring troubles to old graphics cards

I like it very much-I am referring to the software aspect, and the driver is no exception. It is precisely for this reason that we recently found a problem with the new NVIDIA graphics card driver. When I wrote this essay, the official NVIDIA official forceware series driver official version was 81.98, which is what I have installed now, however, this problem has occurred since 81.85:
When you go to advanced display settings and click geforce (this tab is available only when the full driver is installed), the screen is dimmed. Note that the screen remains hidden instead of black, at this time, the brightness and contrast of the monitor are the highest. It is very strange that the monitor can be restored only after it is turned off and then turned on. I don't know if anyone has the same experience as me, but I can be sure there is a problem with this driver.

Someone in the NVIDIA news group gave a prompt

NVIDIA direct access is a new feature of forceware 8x. XX that allows
Control monitor settings within the drivers control panel. Unfortunately
It's bugged and causes lots of problems to some users because every time
Driver Control Panel is accessed it resets the monitor configs to defaults.

For all those who have troubles with NVIDIA direct access resetting
Monitor config, here is a simple fix...

After installing the drivers go in windows \ system32 and delete/rename
Following files:

Nvmccs. dll
Nvmccsrs. dll

... And the NVIDIA direct access will be history.

I found that you do not need to delete or rename nvmccs. dll and nvmccsrs. dll. As long as you do not register nvmccs. dll (regsvr32-u nvmccs. dll), the problem is solved.

In addition, I also provide a small prompt for the NVIDIA graphics card driver:
For Windows XP users who use CRT display and the operating system

  • If you have set the refresh rate to exceed the frequency, but it is not reflected in the game (The Flash speed is 60Hz), please go to the service console (services. in MSC), start the NVIDIA display driver service. They are related.
  • If you have installed the full version of the driver (officially released, not provided by Microsoft), and you cannot see the option to set the overclock refresh rate in geforce settings, Please import a key value (download ).
