New Oracle Enterprise Software "Quest"

Oracle says that their latest daily Business Intelligence for Compliance Software software keeps the enterprise in the best consistency, by integrating reporting and analysis tools on the enterprise's internal control applications.

Techtarget.com with the Oracle Group's vice president for applied policy, Chris Leone, for more details on the new business intelligence software. Leone provides details of the product and explains why Oracle decided to integrate consistency into business intelligence. He also made a number of suggestions for database administrators who wanted to be a mainstay and invaluable asset to the company when it came to consistency.

In an enterprise with at least 500 employees, Oracle's Daily Business Intelligence for Compliance is priced at $30 per employee, Oracle said.

　　Can you disclose some information about Oracle's new business intelligence products?

Leone: We are promoting Oracle daily Business Intelligence for Compliance. In the past, we had a series of consistent applications that were applied under the internal Control Manager (Internal Controls manager) and did help manage, monitor, and automate compliance with the project, as well as internal initialization within the enterprise. The feature we are now promoting is the ability to provide both internal Control Manager (Internal Controls manager) capabilities and day-to-day business intelligence (daily Business Intelligence).

　　What does Oracle want to achieve by combining business intelligence and compliance software?

Leone: By tweaking our database intelligence technology, we provide graphs and tables, as well as reports to show the latest information (about whether a company adheres to previously established internal control rules). The law stipulates that senior executives within an enterprise must confirm their financial position, and one thing we can offer them is to make the confirmation process more transparent. 　　You said the software provided "better transparency in the validation process." Can you give a few examples of how to achieve your goal?

Leone: We can talk about companies that have finished confirming and are not finished confirming. If a control is to be evaluated, whether it is manual or automatic, it will have a negative effect, we can quickly draw a conclusion through the graph. Business leaders can also calm down to a certain extent, particularly to understand which controls are inconsistent and have negative effects.

　　How would you describe the scope of the current consistency problem?

Leone: I would say that when I talk to customers, this is a few of the key drivers within their business. This involves a lot of aspects. From an application perspective, what control methods do I use in the business process? From a technical point of view, it will naturally have a significant impact. Do I have the right security control? Have I tested this technology? This is really an enterprise-wide topic.

　　What if the database administrator can become a star player in the field of compliance?

Leone: One of the things I want to confirm is that consistency is a problem that never automatically disappears. In fact, it touches on all aspects of the business. From a technical standpoint, the database administrator should certainly understand how to protect the table, how to secure the directory, and how to manage the entire infrastructure. They do need to understand some of the adjustment needs that naturally affect it. Many it people have come to understand not only the technical understanding, but also the business understanding. I think this trend will go on.
