In this chapter, I will log on to the new windows azure Management Portal management interface to introduce the differences between the new portal and the previous one.

First, we log onto the https://manage.windowsazure.com and use my Windows Live ID to log in.

If you have never used a new management portal, log on to Windows azure and access the old management portal by default. The interface is as follows:

Click"Direct me to a new portal"This link will jump to the new Management Portal. The entire interface is very Metro, similar to the new Outlook mail service style. For example:

First, let's look at the list content on the left, such:

• The first line of all items shows all windows azure Information
• Click web sites on the second line to display all web sites in Windows azure.
• Virtual machines: displays all the virtual machine services in Windows azure (I will introduce them in a few more details)
• Cloud Services is a cloud hosting service on Windows azure.
• SQL databases is the SQL Server service on the SQL azure cloud.
• Storage indicates the Windows azure storage service.
• In networks, users can configure new functions such as virtual network.
• Media services is a media service for Windows azure.

If I click a column, the detailed content is displayed. For example, if I click SQL databases, the result is as follows:

We can see that the Management Portal displays the successfully created SQL databases (cloud database), the status of each database (Status), and the location of the data center (such as East Asia, west Europe), database version (web or enterprise), database size (1 GB), and other information.

What if we want to create a new service? In the Management Portal, click "new" in the lower left corner to create the desired service.

After clicking "new", we can see the following interface:

We can create different functions as needed. I will give a detailed introduction in the following sections.

If you want to return to the old Management Portal, you just need to select the preview button in the middle of the Management Portal.

In the pop-up preview site menu, select"Take me to the previous Portal", You can return to the previous version of the portal.
