In the past, this was a market dominated by the 5500/5600 series, while Intel this year subdivided dual products into entry-level two-way products Romley-EN both E5-2400 and mainstream two-way products Romley-EP both E5-2600. We will focus on some Huawei products based on Intel E5-2600, including traditional rack RH2288V2, Blade Server BH622 V2, and high-density ECs XH620V2 and XH621V2.

During the CPU performance test, we tested Speccpu, Specjvm, and Linpack.

Speccpu Test

We use the Huawei Blade Server BH622 V2 for Spec cpu2006 testing. Configured as two E5-2690 sample, clock speed of 2.9 GHz, Turbo to 3.8 GHz, 8-core 16 thread 20 mb level 3 cache. The test environment is Red Hat's RHEL6.1, 2.6.32 kernel and supports AVX instruction sets.

Spec cpu2006 is a subsystem evaluation software released by SPEC. It includes two sub-projects, CINT2006 and CFP2006, which are used to test the integer and floating point performance of the system respectively. The processor, and compiler in the system will affect the final test performance, while the disk, network, and graphics subsystems will have less impact on SPEC CPU2006. In SPECfp testing, multiple instances are executed at the same time to measure the system's ability to perform computation-intensive floating point operations, such as CAD/CAM, DCC, and scientific computing. The SPECint test executes multiple instances at the same time, and then tests the system's ability to execute multiple computing-intensive integer operations at the same time, it can reflect the performance of a multi-processor System Based on Integer applications, such as databases, emails, and Web servers.

It should be noted that in the spec cpu test, the clock speed will play a significant role. Compared with the previous generation 5600 series, E5 is dominant in integer and floating point test operations. Undoubtedly, the advanced architecture of E5 determines the performance.
