New Technology ≠ subversion: CIO must have strategic patience

Big data, cloud era, Internet thinking, IoT ... Over the past year or two, these words have been appearing over and over again at the CIO conferences of large and small, and in their private circles, as the most sensitive to new technologies, on the one hand, they are eager to see the dawning of innovation in these applications and, on the other, into the awkward situation of being fashionable and innovative.

Indeed, the Internet is with its powerful unicom function, a huge amount of information resources transmission, presentation, mining and sharing, subversion of the traditional business model, enterprise application market is also moving by the wind. A batch of start-up companies emerge, even if not many industry accumulation can play new technology, they will "cloud", "Big Data" and other concepts repeatedly marketing hype, you can attract a group of CIOs attention.  

Part of the CIO's rush to new technologies reflects their anxiety in the face of rapidly changing application environments. A recent survey shows that the most important challenge for companies to experience fundamental change is aging IT systems. In fact, in an environment where new technologies are called blaring, many companies have not yet perfected the most basic it facilities or used old software to maintain management. Integrated applications often take a bottom-up approach to build, so deployment and efficiency are rather slow. About 70% of business transactions are still handled by the Common Business Language (COBOL), which typically uses more than 60% of the budget to maintain existing systems. Faced with the expansion of business and the complexity of application, IT department on the ice, eager to use new technology to carry out disruptive innovation. A part of the CIO is too enthusiastic about new technologies to be fashionable. Itvalue A survey of China's CIO community shows that more than 80% of CIOs are bullish on big data, but because of technical uncertainty, the big sector is just a wait-and-see attitude. Up to now, only about 16% of enterprises in the domestic application of big data, new technology application environment is not very mature, the relevant talent reserve is relatively small, so rashly on the new will inevitably face a series of unexpected challenges.

It is especially important for CIOs to keep up with the times, pay close attention to industry innovations, and maintain a sober, non-conformity.
