New Technology of Siemens passive optical fiber network with a speed of 10 Gbps

A network testing team of Siemens Germany, supported by the European Union, recently announced that they have successfully tested the passive optical fiber network. This test not only made a new breakthrough in the speed of data transmission connected to the home or office, but also expanded the transmission coverage.

On the passive optical fiber access test network, the data download rate tested by the team reached 10 Gbps, and the data upload speed reached 2.5 Gbps.

In contrast, the current Gigabit passive optical fiber network (GPON) supports a maximum data download rate of 2.5 Gbit/s and a maximum data upload rate of 1.2 Gbit/s.

In addition, the team's scientific research staff also extended the transmission distance between the network cabling center and the user, and expanded the transmission distance of the passive optical fiber network from the previous 20 kilometers to 100 kilometers, the number of users on each optical fiber Shard has also increased from 64 to 512.

To provide faster and more extensive data transmission technology than DSL technology, most carriers are looking forward to the emergence of high-performance optical fiber transmission networks. The new GPON system not only fulfills the operator's desire, but also removes the need for a collection of devices to collect and distribute traffic information from local users, this means that future fiber users can directly connect to the core network.

Earlier this year, the Siemens research team tested the transmission rate on a single optical fiber transmission network, with the maximum data transmission rate reaching 107 Gbps.
