Newgrp commands in Linux

Source: Internet
Author: User

The newgrp command in Linux is used to temporarily Add the current logon user to an existing group. The usage is as follows:

[Yan @ localhost etc] $ newgrp kgtest

The above command means to add user Yan to the existing group "maid"

However, after entering the command, you need to enter the password. This password is the password of the whitelist, so you need to set the password of the whitelist:

Gpasswd maid

After setting, execute newgrp gr test and enter the set group password. After the command is executed successfully, we can see that the user group of Yan has added the "GR test" group.

[Yan @ localhost etc] $ newgrp kgtest
Password:
[Yan @ localhost etc] $ groups
Kgtest Yan

However, it should be noted that after the system is restarted, Yan will no longer belong to the GR test group.
