Based on big data technology, machine diagnosis and treatment accuracy may one day exceed the most famous medical doctor in history.

A few days ago, WellPoint, the largest U. S. Medical Insurance Company, began to use IBM's supercomputer Watson to help doctors diagnose the patient's condition and serve 70 million people. In the field of cancer treatment, it takes one month or longer to develop targeted drug treatment solutions. In the future, Watson's cognitive computing technology can shorten the cycle to one day, significantly improve the cure rate of cancer patients.

"Watson can help the cancer center in the medical and pharmaceutical industries to diagnose and analyze complex cancer diseases. It can also help to analyze disease risks and ensure the compliance and rationality of the claims process, prevent abuse and fraud, and ensure the security of insurance companies' funds. Medical institutions can also use Watson to regulate medical fees." Liu Hong, General Manager of the medical and life sciences division of IBM China Limited, told the reporter of the first financial daily.

Medical Big Data

With the arrival of the big data era, the informatization of the medical industry has ushered in its own "Big Data era ".

How to change the passive participation of patients to active health management, from the effect evaluation of a single case to the overall evaluation and experience of the process and the whole process; from disease data management to health data management, from focusing on disputes and Treatment Technology to prevention, nursing and rehabilitation, the future medical industry needs to pay attention to and solve problems. Big data is an important road.

According to the data provided by IBM, the Shanghai health information system produces 10 million pieces of data each day, has established 30 million electronic health records, and reads 100 million pieces of data every day. The total amount of information has reached 2 billion million pieces.

In 2008, IBM launched the mobilefirst policy for various Wireless terminals and supported iOS and Android systems. Using the mobilefirst platform, you can embed APIs and related app applications in various mobile terminal objects to collect and analyze the data of these infinite terminals. Using small tags similar to RFID in IOT to establish data standards, universality, and practicability.

According to Liu hongjieshao, IBM has launched a BYOD system in some hospitals in Shanghai, namely, an employee's own terminal, to improve the mobility of doctors and nurses in hospitals. Through cooperation with developers, the mobile nursing application is launched to connect various mobile terminals of doctors and nurses to the same network, so that doctors and nurses can understand the location and health status of patients in hospitals, it also improves the mobility of doctors and nurses and does not need to sit in front of a computer in the office to obtain patient information.

Another set of software that has been used by hospitals in China is real time Asset locater (rtal), a real-time Asset locating server ). A set of integrated software on Iot can be used to check various medical devices in hospitals. For example, after checking the bedside facilities in the hospital, the examiner can directly upload the server via the unlimited LAN to allow rtal to process various data.

Wearable medical care

From the transformation of medical services to health services, we have to mention the recently popular combination of smart wearable devices and medical care. Many wearable devices are eager to take the lead in smart medical care.

In Liu Hong's view, although the market for wearable devices and medical care is currently very active, there are more ecological aspects to consider than imagined.

First, you must have your own public cloud. "With the public cloud, we can cooperate. For example, IBM, in partnership with shouxin, launched a public cloud service for health management, and launched public health services such as appointment, follow-up, and screening in Dongcheng District, Beijing ." Said Liu Hong.

The second step is the cooperation between smart wearable devices and medical institutions. Liu Hong believes that smart wearable devices can monitor users' health through sensing technology, but there is no medical institution to provide professional diagnosis and analysis support behind the scenes, even the best applications and data do not reflect the advantages.

"Smart wearable devices and medical care are combined on the consumer end. I insist that this is a small market with great future prospects. Compared with the general application of Big clouds in professional medical institutions, smart wearable devices are more attractive for applications of special groups. For example, the application of step-by-step weight loss for white-collar women's pursuit of health and beauty, the application of location positioning and health monitoring for infants and the elderly, and other such applications will have a higher development potential than general medical services in the future ." Said Liu Hong.

He believes that at present, more IBM cooperation is mainly focused on health bureaus, hospitals, pharmaceutical factories and other institutions. In the future, the consumer end should be the key development direction of IBM.
