It seems that virtual machines in linux systems have this common problem, or is this a VMware BUG? This happened again today in ubuntu: the system has no sound. After checking n more information, 90% of them are discussing how to make the voice of the system in the virtual machine, which is the opposite of what I encountered.
Turn Off Baidu Google and calm down and think carefully: the reason that the system suddenly has no sound can be determined by the installation of ubuntu in VMware. The result is that the host system has no sound. There are only two reasons why the system has no sound: hardware and software. Check the hardware, no problem (in fact, there is no need to check ). That's the software problem. The sound card corresponds to the sound card, and the sound card corresponds to the sound card driver. Open the Device Manager and find that the sound card is normal. Run dxdiag to check whether the sound card works properly.

Uninstall the sound card driver and restart it. Take out the driver disk and re-install the sound card driver. During the process, we found that many driver file versions have high and low replacement prompts (all choose yes). So we understood that the sound card driver problem was still solved, the root cause of the problem is the version of the driver file. Speculation may be that VMware replaced part of the local audio/video driver files due to the differences between the audio/video drivers of different types of systems during the installation of linux systems, resulting in the absence of sound due to the audio/video driver file version of the local machine. This also explains why we haven't encountered this problem while installing windows systems in VMware (at least I did ). Therefore, we recommend that you remove the sound card from the hardware before installing a linux System in VMware.
