According to a warning issued by the cyber security website, Norton AntiVirus, a well-known software of Symantec, has a security vulnerability, which causes its automatic protection function to be disabled.
Norton AntiVirus is an Internet security product launched by Symantec. Security warnings indicate that malicious users can easily disable the automatic protection function by exploiting the vulnerabilities of antivirus software. The purpose of this function is to identify and prevent any suspicious attacks in real time.
The announcement said: "Any unauthorized user may use vulnerabilities in the product to forcibly disable the automatic protection function and can download or execute malicious files. Under normal circumstances, malicious files are monitored and blocked by antivirus files ."
Currently, the products with vulnerabilities are Norton Internet Security 2004 (Norton Internet Security 2004), Norton Internet Security 2004 Professional (Norton Internet Security 2004 Professional) and Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2004 (Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2004) the vulnerability may also exist.
Security Researcher Daniel Milisic was the first to discover the vulnerability. He criticized Symantec's Norton Antivirus Software last week. "Symantec's efforts to sell so inferior anti-virus software to family users, especially some enterprise users, should be condemned. Users thought they were using completely trustworthy products ...... It is hard to imagine that Symantec's products are so inferior ."
ZDNet media reporter in Australia contacted Symantec on the above issues, but the company declined to comment. A Symantec spokesman told ZDNet that the company will learn more within 24 hours ".
