Before purchasing virtualization software, enterprises usually need to consider the reuse of existing devices and the number of new hardware devices they need. Too many purchases will lead to excessive performance, and too little will lead to insufficient performance. In this case, a performance evaluation before the launch of virtualization is involved.

Performance evaluation usually evaluates the usage of CPU, memory, hard disk, and other resources in the existing business system, and then purchases the corresponding level of virtualization basic hardware.

1) actuarial computing of CPU merge rate:

When a physical CPU core is set to a pcpu, and a virtual machine CPU is a vcpu, the following operations are performed:

For example, an enterprise has 10 physical servers, 2 high-load databases, 6 server load businesses, and 2 low-load businesses.

Generally, Windows 2008/requires at least 2 GB of memory as required by the operating system. Therefore, we use 2 GB as the minimum unit of memory.

In virtualization, the ratio of memory to vcpu should be at least 2 GB corresponding to a vcpu.

According to the requirements in the preceding CPU example, the virtualized physical machine requires at least 14x2 = 28 GB of memory.

The memory volume described above does not contain the memory volume occupied by the installation of exsi and vcenter. In general, exsi occupies 1 GB of memory and vcenter occupies 8 GB of memory.

3) Nic merging rate:

A Gigabit Nic usually corresponds to 5 ~ Seven virtual machines.

In the above example, there are 6 virtual machines, and the NIC needs 1 ~ 2 NICs. Of course, according to the principle of separation of business and control, vmotion, management and other functions may require independent NICs. Therefore, you should increase the number by 1 ~ Two NICs are controlled by vsphere.
