NSX-Series NSX test environment prepare and deploy NSX Manager

NSX Manager is the central management platform across the data center. It provides the UI and APIs for NSX. So, this section describes how to deploy an NSX Manager, and how to prepare to build an NSX test environment;

Lab Environment Preparation

• 4 ESXi Host, 2 units for managing the environment, including NSX Manager, NSX Controller, VCSA, DISTRIBUTEDROUTERVM, NSX Edge VMs;

• 4 ESXi Host, 2 units for the production of business, run 3-layer network, such as: Web01, App01, DB01;

• 1 AD, 1 iSCSI storage, a soft router;

• 4 a nsxlogicalswitches that connects Web, APP, DB, and transmission networks, respectively;

• 1 a logicalrouter,distributed Logical Router, responsible for connecting 4 Logical switches, between web/app/db to the transmission network and their communication with each other;

• 1 A Nsxedge, responsible for communication between the 4 logical switches to the physical network via logical router;

Figure 01 is a simple structure of the virtual human experimental environment, for reference only. The router in the figure is NSX Edge, which is responsible for routing and forwarding the physical network traffic in the design;

Deploying NSX Manager Detailed procedures

1 , Vsphereweb client connects to the VCSA or vsphereclient directly to the ESXi host, opens the OVF deployment to think of, and then downloads the NSX Manager ovf file to 02 as shown, and then next:

2 , tick the Accept extraconfiguration options shown in Figure 03, then configure the additional message for this OVF, then click Next to go to the next step:

3 , After, after receiving the EULAs message, Next, comes to order for Nsxmanager in inventory, and designates a VDC to store it, as shown in 04:

4 , and then, as shown in Figure 05, select the Datastore location where the NSX manager virtual machine is stored, then click Next:

5 , Next, select the VDS portgroup that the NSX manager virtual machine needs to connect to, and as this is the management machine, choose Manage Cluster in Figure 06:

6 , to figure 07, you can see some custom settings for this NSX manager virtual machine, including passwords, network IP, DNS, NTP, and more:

7 , confirm all OK, directly click Finish, complete the initial configuration of the NSX manager virtual machine, then go to recent tasks in 08, you can see the import progress:

8 , wait for the import to complete, you can start the NSX manager, after the boot completes, according to the set IP message, on the machine that can access the network of this NSX manager, using Chrome browser, enter the planned NSX manager address https://10.10.10.120, you can go to the window interface shown in Figure 09:
