The above figure is GeForce GTC 780, the following figure is GTX Titan
With the popular 600 series of graphics products, Nvidia is non-stop to celebrate the arrival of spring with the release of the new 700 series models. Its first product, named GeForce GTX 780, did not revolutionize the market, in fact, it was an upgrade to the product line before Nvidia, inheriting the image processing chips from the GTX Titan. As a result, GTX 780 is actually cheaper than GTX Titan in terms of price, and performance is higher than GTX 680. Now let's take a deep look at GTX 780.
Technical parameter:
As mentioned earlier, GeForce GTX 780 uses a GK110 GPU, which we've seen in GeForce GTX Titan. It is also based on the same Kepler architecture, which was introduced by Nvidia as early as the GeForce 600 series, but GTX 680来, which has 1536 stream processors, has increased the number of stream processors in GTX 780 to 2304. In addition, the instruction set of the GPGPU (general-purpose compute graphics processor) is also on the board, so the graphics card can help solve the problem by using some other processing tool.
The 2304 Stream processor operates symbolically at a 863MHz clock rate. However, since GTX 780 uses the GPU Boost 2.0 technology, the GPU clock can be set to vary by some standard, such as power usage or temperature.
So Nvidia does not give this video card the maximum attainable clock rate, but gives the minimum rate of 902MHz. Of the devices we tested, GTX 780 reached 1006MHz in the first few minutes of the game. After the initial warm-up, the clock rate starts to jump between 928 and 993MHz, depending on the state of the game. Note that not all GTX 780 graphics cards can achieve these exact speeds, because the NVIDIA system allows a certain degree of variation between each model.
Using an image graphics card manufacturer provides a common function that usually achieves a higher clock rate, and Nvidia adds the EVGA function to our test graphics card, which means that we can use the power target and the temperature target (as shown in the image below) to operate. With some tweaks, the graphics card can be set to run faster, but it will use more power and the noise will become larger.
As with most GeForce GTX 600 graphics, this 3GB onboard clock is set to 1502MHz, but it has a 384-bit bus similar to GTX Titan, rather than the 256-bit memory bus used on GeForce GTX 680 and GTX 670, so , GTX 780 has a higher bandwidth.
Dimensions, noise and heat dissipation:
GeForce GTX 780 (26.7 cm) is smaller than GTX Titan (27.7 cm), but it inherits Titan's excellent cooling system and high quality polishing design. When idling, the thermal control system of the graphics card based on a fan which deviates from the center is very quiet. We tested the noise level in 32.2dB (A), which means that you need to close the computer cover before you can hear the fan working.
In the game, the noise increases to 44.8dB (A), at this level, you can hear the fan whistling, but the noise level is still in an acceptable range. In contrast, the Radeon HD 7970 GHz version of the same test conditions, the noise level reached 56.1dB (a), GTX Titan 46.5dB (a), GTX 680 is 47.3dB (a).
Power use:
When idling, GeForce GTX 780 and GTX 680 use a similar amount of power, we use on the test PC machine, GTX 780 runs under 50.1 watts, the previous model has a total power of 53.6 watts. This is also 6 watts less than AMD's Radeon HD 7970 GE, even if the AMD's video card has advanced standby mode, that is, when the screen closes the fan and the power use to the minimum, this shows that GTX 780 in this respect performance is quite excellent.
When running the game, a lot of the stream processor unit of the display card pushes the power usage of our PC machine to 275 watts, compared with the power of GeForce GTX 680 to 250 watts. So we can see that the GTX 780 can be compared to the Radeon HD 7970 GHz in power usage, but it also beats the AMD graphics card in game performance, as can be seen in the following evaluation.
Game performance:
During the test we had to slightly adjust the test plan for this particular video card because there was a problem with the motherboard of the test PC that prevented us from entering the standard set of the game, which we used to evaluate performance. So we can't use these games to test GTX 780 before replacing the motherboard, but despite that, we've done well with the latest test platform. We successfully used 7 new games to test GTX 780, the following is the test results of 7 games, all the games are in full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels), all the options are activated, every game is updated to the latest version of the case to test:
Once again we see that the GeForce GTX 780 is similar to the GeForce GTX Titan. In fact, performance is very close, the average difference between the two models is only 7%. Compared to the GeForce GTX 680 and Radeon HD 7970 GHz, the difference is very significant, with an average performance of 32% and 25% lower respectively.
Additional Features:
This test uses the product is the NVIDIA to send the GeForce GTX 780 reference graphics card, the test result and GTX Titan extremely similar. The cooling system is the same and has two DVI outputs, an HDMI 1.4 output and a DisplayPort 1.2 output, which is also driven by a 6-pin and a 8-pin PCI-E cable.
In addition, the graphics card has all the usual Nvidia extras, such as SLI for 3 cards at the same time, PhysX for compatibility games, 3D viewing of stereo games, and 3D wrapping of three-screen games, all of which can be used at the same time. Adaptive Vsync, Txaa anti-aliasing, PhysX, and cuda acceleration can also be provided, and DirectX can support versions up to 11_0.
Nvidia recently began adding the GeForce experience feature to its manifest, which detects all the games installed on the computer and automatically matches the best image settings for each game to maximize the graphics (depending on the performance of the graphics parameters).
The system works with high-end or entry-level graphics cards, and does not appear out of thin air, and results are based on automated test systems across the entire team using multiple PC platforms. This application can also be responsible for monitoring the driver upgrades, it will tell you that there is a new upgrade, and then set a very simple one-click installation process.
Conclusion:
Nvidia adopted the Kepler architecture on GTX 780, which should satisfy the user and continue to wait for the company's new architecture release, which will be released at the end of 2013 or more likely in early 2014. GeForce GTX 780 took over the GTX 680 well, although not a revolutionary breakthrough model, it still stabilized the Nvidia leader in the image processing of a single GPU card.
Competitors may only be able to compete with Nvidia's graphics in price/performance. However, GeForce manufacturers seem to understand this matter, the release of GTX 780 of the price of 550 pounds (about 5060 yuan). But then again, Nvidia has almost no real competitive pressure from AMD on a single GPU model, and eventually Nvidia seems to compete with the GTX titan of its own brand, Titan more expensive, performance and GTX 780.
Advantages:
Excellent game performance.
Less noise.
High-quality polishing design.
Nvidia Additional features (GeForce experience, adaptive Vsync, PhysX, TXAA, CUDA, etc.).
