Turn on alignment options
Click a chart, picture, or object in a worksheet.
Do one or all of the following:
To place a shape or object at the nearest intersection of the grid, click format > Align > Snap to Grid .
To align a shape or object with another shape or object, click settings > Align > Align graphics .
tip To temporarily override the alignment option, hold down ALT while you drag the chart, picture, or object.
Turn off alignment options
Click a chart, picture, or object in a worksheet.
Click format > Align, and click Snap to Grid or align shapes to disable these options, depending on the options.
Powerpoint
Turn on alignment options
Click View , and then in the display Group, click the dialog Box Launcher.
To place a shape or object at the nearest intersection of the grid, select the align objects to grid box under align. If you want to see the grid on the screen, under grid settings , select the Show grid on screen box.

To display drawing guides on the screen, under Guide Settings , select the Show drawing guides on screen box. When drawing guides are displayed, if you drag objects within the threshold range of several pixels, the objects are aligned with those lines:
If you want the current settings in the Grid and Guides dialog box to be the default for all presentations, click Set as Default .
If you select the align objects to grid box, you can draw a freeform drawing with a straight line

To place a chart, picture, or object at the nearest intersection of the grid (even when the grid is not visible), under Show Grid , select the snap objects to grid when gridlines are not displayed box.
To align a shape or object with another shape or object, select the align objects to other objects box under object Alignment .

By default, shapes and other objects are aligned to the nearest grid line only when the grid is displayed. You can make changes by selecting the Snap objects to grid box when the gridlines are not displayed.
