One IP to build multiple Web sites-Host Header names method

For a variety of reasons, we sometimes need to set up multiple Web sites on an IP address, and in IIS5 we may be able to achieve this goal by simply setting.

In IIS, each WEB site has a unique, three-part identity to receive and respond to requests:

(1) IP Address

(2) Port number

(3) Host header names.

In IIS, there are usually two ways to set up separate Web sites on an IP address, and this article introduces the host header method in the form of an example, which can be used to establish a professional virtual host.

Environment: Suppose the Sea Company (hehe ...) Use a Win2000 server to provide a virtual host service, the address is 192.168.1.10. Internet services are already installed on this server, which is IIS5.

Now the company requires the network administrator on the server to use an IP for ABCD four companies to establish a separate site, each site has its own independent domain name. Four sites are: Www.a.com, www.b.com, www.c.com and www.d.com.

By using the main header, the site can maintain multiple sites with only one IP address. Customers can use different domain names to access their own sites, do not feel that these sites on the same host.

The specific actions are as follows:

In DNS, all four domain names are registered to the same address: 192.168.1.10. This allows the client to pass:

Http://www.a.com visit a company site.

Http://www.b.com Visit the B Company site.

Http://www.c.com visit the C company site.

Http://www.d.com Visit D Company site.

3. The host header names for each site can be set in the Web Site Setup Wizard, which is the same as the IP address of the site and the TCP port on the same screen. This approach establishes a professional virtual host that can be built by almost any company that uses IIS to provide a virtual host.
