I use grub4DOS to guide ubuntu installation in Windows 7,
MACHINE: ASUS a43 sv
System: 64-bit Windows 7 family
Ubuntu 10.04
The system has a hidden partition in front of drive c. the disk size reserved for ubuntu is 30 GB + 2 GB swap partition.
After ubuntu is installed and restarted, you cannot see the normal win7 boot in the boot ..
The first four boot items are about ubuntu .. Windows Vista (loader) (on/dev/sda1)
However, after selecting 5th items, it enters the Asus win7 recovery. Soon restart the grub boot interface... Windows 7 cannot be started ..

Very important: the/boot/grub directory does not contain the menu. lst file.
