A Word document that is opened as read-only restricts the editing and modification of the original Word document, effectively protecting the original state of the Word document. Of course, a Word document opened in read-only mode allows the user to save as to save the currently open read-only Word document as a new, editable Word document. The steps to open a Word document in read-only mode in Word2010 are described below:
Step 1th, open the Word2010 window and click the file → open button, as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Click the Open command, step 2nd, in the Open Open dialog box, select the Word document you want to open, and then click the Drop-down triangle button to the right of the Open button. Select the open as read-only option in the Open menu, as shown in Figure 2.
