Java has some very good, open source static analysis tools such as FindBugs, Checkstyle, and PMD. These tools are easy to use, useful for development, can run on a variety of operating systems and are free of charge.

The commercial level of C + + static analysis tool products are klocwork, Gimpel and Coverity. Although these products are excellent, they are expensive and unsuitable for most students.
