I believe everyone knows that open XML has passed the second round of ISO voting and officially became the ISO standard. This message has been officially announced at iso.org. This message means:

1. Third-party software developers and developers can now directly refer to the standard open XML document format specifications to directly create or process documents generated by Microsoft Office. It is certainly a good option for WPS and other software similar to those that wish to directly support Microsoft Office document formats. For example, Open Office (Novell edition) Running in Linux already directly supports open XML documents:

2. After becoming an ISO standard, the open XML specification will no longer be directly controlled by any vendor (including Microsoft itself), any modifications or updates to the ISO standard, they all need to go through the standard voting process of the ISO organization.

3. developer can now easily process Microsoft Office documents, because the open XML specification is based on two basic and most common technologies: XML and zip. The processing of open XML is not subject to any platform orProgramming Language.

To help. Net developer better create and process open XML documents, Microsoft has released the first CTP version of open xml sdk. Open xml sdk allows. Net developer to directly use a set of class libraries to operate open XML documents without having to know too much details about open XML standards. It is the roadmap developed by the open xml sdk in the future.

At the msdn webcast site, there is also a series of Chinese open XML Development lectures.

China has already proposed a uof document format standard. Microsoft is also supporting the development of a two-way uof and open XML converter to achieve the conversion between uof format and open XML format. The goal of this converter is to directly open and save it in the uof format in Microsoft Office 2007:
