GuideNetwork monitoring cameras have now become one of the most important security tools, but you may not have time to view what the cameras have captured, so that their functions will not be so great. There is an open-source software library called OpenALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) that may help you to make common cameras your own Automatic License Plate Recognition System.

When the camera captures the license plate in the image content, it can quickly scan each frame of the license plate (but it seems that only the US and Europe formats are supported) and give a report.

In fact, this system can still be implemented in many functions. For example, it can identify members of a family going home, or see who has been there. In short, if you have a hands-on basis in this area, you can think about the functions you can implement.

OpenALPR is certainly intended for developers. It only provides core libraries and some control tools, but it is quite easy to test. The only thing to do is to bind the command line tool to point to the target image or video, as shown below:
