For a long time, people seem to have a lack of understanding about servers. In fact, servers are not as complicated as we think. They do not have any rigid rules, especially in medium and small enterprises, they are likely to use only one PC with better performance to act as servers, which are commonly known as PC servers. However, this is actually very dangerous, if the server needs to be turned on for a long time, it will make the PC very difficult to meet and cause Constant Troubles to enterprises.

In fact, the gap between servers and PCs is still very large. No matter whether it is convenient in CPU, memory, or motherboard, it cannot be used interchangeably, server-specific products must be used to ensure the overall performance of servers. In enterprise procurement, people often do not know much about the configuration of each part, here we will explain each important part of the server one by one, so that you can purchase appropriate products when purchasing servers.

Common server types:Tower server, rack server, and Blade Server

Currently, the market is popular with three types of servers: Tower server, rack server, and blade server. Tower server and rack server are widely used in small and medium-sized enterprises and are easy to see in daily life. These two servers are cheaper than blade servers and can be deployed quickly. Blade servers have cluster advantages, but they are expensive and must be maintained by professional technicians. Let's take a look at their respective users and features:

Tower server: the structure of a tower server is similar to that of a PC. It is widely used in small and medium-sized enterprises. Although it does not have a specific specification, it is generally relatively large, therefore, the upgrade and expansion capabilities are strong, but due to its strong independence, collaboration and system management are not convenient. This is also the limitation of tower servers, but due to its low cost, therefore, it is widely used in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Rack servers: The most common rack servers are 1U, 2U, and 4U models. The overall design complies with 19 "international standards. Compared with tower servers, rack servers may have poor heat dissipation performance, however, it adopts the standard system, network, hard disk and power plug design. In addition, rack-mounted servers are very convenient to manage and are suitable for key applications with high traffic volumes. However, like Tower servers, rack-mounted servers occupy a large amount of space and have low space utilization compared with blade servers, in addition, professional data centers are required to place servers.

Blade Server: The Blade Server is a high-density integrated product that makes the overall structure of the server more compact and flexible, thus simplifying enterprise cabling, storage, management, and maintenance. Users can perform unified management, you can set network, SAN, VLAN settings, and power management to unified management. Although blade servers greatly reduce the overall management cost, rack servers are generally two to three more expensive than tower servers with the same configurations when purchasing a single product.
