OpenOffice.org consists of multiple components, including text processing, workbooks, demo creation, graphic editing, and databases, to meet various needs. OpenOffice.org 3.0.0 includes the following 14 major updates in terms of core:

- ODF 1.2 Support
- Microsoft Office 2007 Import Filters

- The chart is enhanced.
- Improved the cropping function in Draw and Impress.
