Opera unexpectedly released Opera Developer 24 for Linux, and it was reported more than four months ago that Opera would not release a new Linux version in the foreseeable future.

Opera 24 for Linux is the first Opera for Linux version based on Chromium. It uses Google's Blink rendering engine. Opera announced the transition from the Presto engine to WebKit/Blink in 2013. This version is only tested on Ubuntu Linux that uses the Unity or Gnome Shell desktop. Other releases may work normally, but cannot be guaranteed.
