Operating system not found for VMware Solution

Today, a chat in the Group encountered a small problem when a friend installed the virtual system. He uses VMware as virtual machine software. The host operating system is Vista, and the virtual system wants to install XP. The process of creating a virtual machine is successful. After the XP disk is put into the optical drive, the following prompt message is displayed during system installation:

The system prompts that the installation was started from the network but failed. Why didn't I boot from CD-Rom? But he does not choose to boot from the network, but needs to install from the optical area. So the first thought is that the virtual machine BIOS has changed the boot sequence? Restart the VM, click the left mouse button in the screen, and then quickly press f2 to enter the BIOS. The boot option is found in bios, but the boot device cannot be changed. This is not the reason.

Later, I thought that since it had guided the system from the network, would it be okay if I didn't let him have a network? Click the edit interface of the VM to remove the NIC.

Next, restart the system. The following message is displayed:

It seems that the problem is clear. The problem is specified on the optical drive. After checking the optical drive, the system disk content can be displayed normally. The screenshot is as follows:

Think twice about it. Confused, I found that my friend has only one optical drive, but there are actually two CD-Rom drive letters in Vista. I have never used Vista, and I don't know why. Now, two optical drives have been recognized by VMware! When you install a virtual system, if you do not specify the boot system from which the optical drive is used, you will not be able to find the boot system. To verify this idea, edit the configurations of the VM:

Here, manually specify to use the drive E: instead of Auto Detect. Next, reboot the system and solve the problem.

This article has no technical content, but solves a small problem. However, if you have encountered this problem but have not solved it, you can use this method to successfully run your virtual system!

In addition, the operating system not
The found solution is available on the network and I have made some repairs.

Tip: operating system not found is always prompted when the system is installed and restarted! If you select hard disk boot, the system prompts that no hard disk is found!

The reason is: the first partition is not activated after the partition, and the problem is solved by activating it using related tools, such as the DOS tool set provided by Yu linmu Feng. Put the disk into the optical drive and start the virtual machine. Run the [Yu Lin Mu Feng dostool set] and enter the partition table management command diskgen (different system disks may be different) to go to the management interface. In the pop-up window, select your drive C, click partition> activate (F7) in the menu bar, the shortcut key is F7, then hard disk → save disk, then hard disk → exit. Restart the computer and solve the problem.
