At present, many people are using wireless routers. Here we mainly analyze how to make the work of wireless routers more efficient. Of course, if we do not set the NetStumbler program, it will not find any valid wireless access points. When setting the NetStumbler program, we can first open the program interface shown in.

By default, the program will prompt no aps active information in the status bar, and we will not see any prompt message in the left-side area of the interface, this indicates that the NetStumbler program does not work in the correct setting state at this time. In this case, you can click the "Device" option in the menu bar, by default, NetStumbler scans WIRELESS signals from the TP-LINK 11B/g wireless adapter atheros Nic, the NetStumbler program can correctly scan and search for wireless access points in the LAN only when we select a NIC that matches the laptop from the drop-down menu.

Once the NIC signal parameters used by the local computer are set, the NetStumbler program can automatically search for the wireless signals sent from the wireless router in the local LAN through the corresponding Nic device, then the NetStumbler program automatically displays the specific information of the searched wireless signal in the right pane of Figure 2, this information includes the SSID name, MAC address, transmission speed, and channel information of the local wireless router. In addition, we can identify whether the local wireless LAN has been encrypted.

Click the CHANNELS option in the left area of Figure 2. In the list area on the right of the option, we can see that the NetStumbler program has automatically divided the information of each searched wireless router band, it is identified by an icon corresponding to a signal diagram, and then a Cartesian coordinate is created through the SNR value and time. In the Cartesian coordinate, the landmark is clearly identified to identify the strength and weakness of each signal point, using the strength value of each signal point in the Cartesian coordinate, we can easily find out which position can receive the best signal from the wireless router.

In addition, from the Cartesian coordinates, we can see which wireless subnet is encrypted and which wireless subnet is not encrypted, when the lock mark is displayed in the Cartesian coordinates, it indicates that the wireless subnet at the corresponding position has been encrypted. If the lock mark is not found, it indicates that the wireless subnet at the corresponding position has not been encrypted; if the icon at a certain position in the Cartesian coordinate is dimmed, it indicates that the workstation at the corresponding position cannot receive wireless signals, so the workstation is often unable to connect to the Local Wireless LAN.

In addition, when you click the CHANNELS option in the left-side area of Figure 2, we can also see detailed information about each wireless network under the corresponding channel in the display window on the right; in addition, in the left area of Figure 2, The NetStumbler Program also provides us with many functional options, using these function options, we can flexibly divide discovered wireless access points and routers in various ways, such as by SSID name or by band, whether data is encrypted or not.

Find the best position for Signal Transmission

From the above description, it is not difficult to see that through the SNR value and time relationship coordinate chart, we can easily find a location in the LAN where the wireless signal reception capability is strong, which location has poor wireless signal reception capability? In this way, we can try to find the location where a wireless router is placed to ensure that the wireless router is located at a specific location, all locations in the LAN can have good signal reception capabilities.

When looking for the best signal transmission location for a wireless router, We can first try to place the wireless router in the center location of each LAN workstation, ensure that the distance between the wireless router and each workstation is almost the same, and do not try to have any obstacles in the wireless router's location to prevent the impact on the wireless signal reception capability of the workstation. Next, move the laptop with the NetStumbler program installed to check whether the signal reception strength at each workstation location in the LAN is good. If the signal reception intensity at each workstation location is significantly different, it indicates that the current location of the wireless router is not the ideal location.

At this point, we only need to patiently re-adjust the placement of the wireless router, and then re-test the signal reception strength at each position in the LAN through the NetStumbler program, until all the workstation locations can have good signal strength, at this time, the location of the wireless router is the most ideal signal transmission location, this is because all workstations in the LAN can efficiently access the wireless network.
