ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

When remotely connecting to the database, the following error message is reported:

ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

An error occurred while trying to grant sysdba to sys.

SQL> grant sysdba to sys;

Grant sysdba to sys

*

ERROR at line 1:

ORA-01994: GRANT failed: password file missing or disabled

 

The directory where the password file is located finds that the file exists because the previously created database has been deleted and the new database may cause a problem with the password file. So recreate the password file:

[Oracle @ jason dbs] $ orapwd file = orapwjason password = system entries = 5

Logon using system authentication:

SQL> grant sysdba to sys;

Grant succeeded.

SQL>

 

Then you can log on successfully.
