ORA-28001: the password has expired

Oracle prompt error message ORA-28001: the password has expired, due to new features of Oracle11G, the default password expiration limit for Oracle11G User Creation is 180 days (6 months ), if the user password is not modified for more than 180 days, the user cannot log on. Oracle introduces this default function in 11 GB by default for database security. However, this default function is easily neglected by DBAs or developers. Once the password is not modified for 180 days, this problem occurs.

You can use the following SQL statement to solve the problem:

SELECT * FROM dba_profiles WHERE profile = 'default' AND resource_name = 'password _ LIFE_TIME'

Query the password validity period settings. The LIMIT field is the password validity period.

When the password is about to expire or has expired, use the following statement to modify the password. After the password is changed, the user can connect to the database normally.

Alter user Username identified by password;

To remove the 180-day password lifecycle restriction, use the following SQL statement to disable it:

Alter profile default limit PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME UNLIMITED

The above SQL statement changes the default password validity period from 180 days to "unlimited ". For the sake of database security, we do not recommend that you set PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME to UNLIMITED. We recommend that you modify the password of a database user on a regular basis.
