Oracle and HP released the first database Device

Oracle partnered with Hewlett-Packard to launch the first hardware product, database equipment. Oracle CEO Larry Elllison said the product is suitable for high-end, high-performance data warehouse applications.

At the Oracle Open World Conference, Ellison said in a keynote speech that HP Oracle Database Machine integrates Oracle Database servers with HP Exabyte storage servers in a standard 42U rack.

In addition to the high-end design, the smart technology of the storage server of this product can divide the queue into multiple different parts and then process them in parallel between multi-core processors.

The Intelligent Queue processing technology effectively migrates data from the database server to the storage server so that it is closer to the data itself. This technology only allows the transfer of processing results from storage to the database system, instead of the data blocks of TB or TB large databases. Nowadays, this large-capacity database is becoming more and more common. database servers generally improve performance through the unique and 30 Oracle data warehouses of the software.

Ellison said: "we transfer the queue from the database server to the Queue Server, where the queue is processed in parallel ." Some of these queues run on each kernel of the two storage servers. This database server is configured with 14 storage servers (28 multi-core CPUs ). Currently, a quad-core CPU can provide up to 112 available kernels for parallel queue processing. A complex queue is divided into 112 cores. If necessary, each core has its own kernel.

Each database server and storage server are connected through two InfiniBand channels. Each channel can migrate 1 GB of data per second. The 12 disks in the Exabyte Storage Server can only provide 1 GB of data transmission capacity, but the redundant space reserved for the Data Warehouse can be gradually increased through the disk drive performance. Because a storage server mesh contains 14 devices, the maximum data volume that can be migrated per second is 14 GB.

Ellison said that HP and Oracle have been working on database server equipment for three years.

Competitors of this new data warehouse server include Teradata, a high-end data warehouse product provider based on parallel processing, and Netezza, a data warehouse server provider.

Ellison did not shy away from market competition. He said that the performance of HP Oracle Database Machine is as high as 30 times that of IBM DB2 data warehouse. In the press conference and other product documents, Oracle stressed that the performance of HPOracleDatabaseMachine is 10 times the performance of Oracle's previous generation products and competitor Data Warehouse products.

Although the pricing information for this product has not been published so far, Ellison said it has been put into use for more than a year in a number of major Oracle customers, and soon this product will be available soon, oracle will be responsible for sales and software system support, while HP will be responsible for hardware services.

Jim Baum, president of Netezza, responded in a pre-statement: "You can't just pack existing solutions cleverly.
