Oracle and Zend will announce cooperation to strengthen PHP development

The two sides will work together to strengthen the development of open source PHP. The cooperation between the two sides will be carried out on the basis of Oracle database and implemented by Zend Core with a free software tool.

In the third quarter of this year, Zend core software will integrate Oracle database and Zend PHP environment. Users can get the software through Oracle technology, but Zend will sell some of the support services associated with it. At present, PHP for users, is a relative to Java and Microsoft. NET, another alternative language. PHP can also be used in a mixed-application environment, or as an important member of the emerging open source software camp.

According to Pamela Rossos, vice president of Zend, Pamela Roussos, the main function of Zend core is to make it more efficient for users to develop PHP based on Oracle database. And in the past, it was a very complicated job. "This kind of work is time-consuming, tedious and prone to mistakes," says Rossos. What we are doing now is to make this work easier and more efficient. "The Zend core software package enables PHP applications to start and run together with Oracle database within minutes."

Stephen Ogledi, a senior analyst in the industry, said Zend's relationship with Oracle is similar to the one previously established between IBM and the company. "I think the Zend Company is a continuation of its development strategy," he said. "IBM and Zend announced a collaborative project this February to establish a convergence between the Zend PHP environment and IBM's Cloudscape and DB2 Universal database platform."
