Oracle is thought to think of Oracle databases (their version is: 8i,9i,10g,11g, where I represents the Internet, while G represents grid computing), but Oracle actually has the following product lines:
Database: This is the Oracle database we usually know, up to the current version of 11G.
Middleware (middleware): Represents the product for application server, application server is based on the Java EE architecture under the application server. At present the industry more well-known Java EE architecture under the application server: Bea's WEBLOGIC,IBM WebSphere, open source has JBoss and Tomcat and so on. Of course there are other products in middleware. (Up to now Bea has been acquired by Oracle)
Applications (application): Mainly for enterprise-class products, these products include the following products: Oracle E-business Suite (commonly known as Oracle ERP, the current version is 11i, the next version is R12), PeopleSoft Enterprise (Mergers and acquisitions PeopleSoft), Siebel (Mergers and acquisitions Siebel products, is the industry's most well-known CRM, the interface left a deep impression on me), JD Edwards series products (I do not know about this product).
Other products: Do not know much, it is not described.
The installation of the database on the machine is not high, the general PC can be, if you want to install the Oracle E-business Suite then at least 120G of hard disk, 2G memory. The general PC and notebook can not meet the installation requirements.
The Oracle product family of practitioners:
1 Oracle Developer: Key Skills pl/sql+ Another development language (java,c++, etc.)
2 Database DBA: Key Skills Backup Database, restore database, database upgrade, hit patch
3 Oracle ERP function consultant: Understand Oracle ERP product function, and can set up according to customer requirement, generally need a period of time of learning side can reach.
4 Oracle ERP Technology Advisor: Need to understand the basic functions of Oracle ERP products, understand the main development tools: Pl/sql,report,form,workflow,discoverer, etc.
5 Oracle ERP DBA: will manage Oracle ERP DBA, on the basis of database DBA also need to understand some basic knowledge of ERP, such as application Server, form server, concurrent manager, can hit Oracle The patch of ERP. It is often necessary to understand the knowledge of Oracle ERP System Management modules. Employees engaged in Oracle ERP DBAs typically transition from DBAs to more knowledge structures than the average DBA.
Because I know so much about the products of Oracle products, you are welcome to add.
In general, Oracle erp= E-commerce suite =oracle e-business suit=ebs (Oracle e-business Suit abbreviation) =oracle applications=11i ( 11i is a stable version of Oracle at this stage, the next version is R12)
