1. Log on to the operating system where the Oracle database server is installed. Open a Command window: (My demo machine is windows)

2. To view the settings for the environment variable ORACLE_SID:

   Windows:echo%oracle_sid%

   Linux:echo $ORACLE _sid

3. Set the value of the environment variable ORACLE_SID to the SID of the Oracle instance that you want to log on to:

   Set ORACLE_SID=ORCL

4. Type the command: Sqlplus/as SYSDBA

   You can log in to Oracle as a SYSDBA!

   Under Linux, if the Sqlplus command cannot be found, switch to the Oracle user.

5. Execute the command in the Sqlplus window:

   Alter user you_username identified by You_password;

   You can change your user's password ~
