OBI EE (Siebel Analytics) is a powerful enterprise-class business intelligence/reporting/analysis tool that quickly occupies market share and recognition. Although Siebel's Oracle market share is low (and likely to be lower), it is a pure display platform. They really want to be able to sell it to you, but that's not their concern.
If so, what are their concerns? The answer is business intelligence applications.
Whether you believe it or not, business intelligence applications are the future of data warehousing and business intelligence. As in the past, midsize and large enterprises adopt large ERP, CRM, billing, and human resource applications, and they will also adopt business intelligence applications. Siebel is one of the first people to preach this message, and Oracle is now preaching the idea, albeit in much greater scope and with greater progress and broader market resources.
This two-part article is a general introduction to business intelligence applications, but focuses on Oracle Business intelligence applications. It will explain why and what it is, as well as the support and objection information for building data warehouses and business intelligence systems in advance.
What is a business intelligence application?
In general, it is a fully pre-established business intelligence and data warehousing system. It involves ETL, a data model, a technology platform, metadata, and pre-established analysis and reporting. Download the software and application configuration files, install, load the data, and then you can start, in some ways it is really that simple.
A complete business intelligence application, such as Oracle's business intelligence application, contains everything that is professionally done by the engineering team (not just technical experts, but also industry and functional experts). A basic business intelligence application is not just an "industry-standard data Model", it also includes all the necessary ETL, data models, business intelligence tool metadata, and pre-established report content. Some may also include changes to data capture or integration with other uses, such as front-end applications, portals, advanced data services, or even other business intelligence tools.
In Oracle's application world, there are some names that can easily be confusing. Oracle currently sells three different Obi EE base applications, of which two are called Fusion Intelligence (one for Oracle EBS and DBI and the other for PeopleSoft and JD Edwards). Note that these applications are not part of the true Oracle development direction and will not be actively focused. Instead, Oracle focuses on its business intelligence-critical product, whose name is called a business intelligence application. These business intelligence applications include nearly 50 modules, including marketing Analytics, Partner Analytics, Service Analytics, and Sales Analytics, among others.
Why create a business intelligence application?
The answer is the same as why we now have an ERP system. SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Baan, Siebel, clarify, and so on are all built on the same idea: a customer can buy a fully functional system rather than suffer the risks, costs, and delays that they build. It just starts with the front-end system first. Most of the top 2000 companies now have one or several ERP systems that enable them to build a business intelligence system beforehand. Because of the well-defined data models in the company, these companies are effectively acquiring pre-established ETL, and with pre-built ETL, they are expected to benefit enormously from business intelligence applications.
Why should you consider Oracle Pre-build business intelligence applications?
If you are reading this article, you are at least interested in Oracle Business intelligence, especially Obi EE. If you have one or more supported source ERP packages (Oracle EBS, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, Siebel, SAP, and call center conversion data), Oracle's business intelligence applications will be of greater interest to you.
Oracle's business intelligence applications can bring many benefits, but many benefits: such as UI integration, security integration, and similar aspects, are the same thing: they save you strength. Everything that business intelligence applications offer can be done by using the basic technology platform, which means you'll be able to do it yourself. The difference is that Oracle engineering has done a lot of work for you.
