Oracle is installed on this machine, do I need to install the client?

For:

You do not need to install, because the client is installed by default when you install Oracle. Therefore, your native sqlplus can be used, Sqlplus is the client.


Except in one case:

You need to use Plsql, and you install 64-bit Oracle, you need to install 32-bit Oracle clients separately, because Plsql cannot identify 64-bit clients (mostly Oci.dll files). The Oracle client is not installed after Oracle is installed, and Oci.dll is already installed under Product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin under the Oracle installation directory.


The reason for this is that the Oracle client is typically installed for use with Plsql.





The above is the machine , if other machines need to access my native Oracle, must install Oracle client, simple installation of plsql is useless.
