Substr

The Intercept string function in Oracle.

The syntax is as follows:

substr (String, start_position, [length])

Parametric analysis:

String

String value

Start_position

The initial position of the truncated string, the number type, and the start_position is negative, which means from the right of the string.

Length

Intercept digits, Number type

Where length is optional and if length is empty (that is, not filled) returns all characters following start_position.

The meaning is:

Starting with start_position, take the length of the character and return the extracted string.
