Oracle Performance Optimization Operation 16: Using partition indexes, oracle Performance Optimization

When you use analysis commands to analyze partition indexes, the range of data values of each partition is stored in the Oracle Data dictionary.

Oracle can use this information to extract data partitions that are only related to SQL queries.

For example, suppose you have defined a partition index, and an SQL statement needs to perform an index scan in an index partition.

Oracle will only access this index partition and will call a quick full scan of this index range on this partition.

Because you do not need to access the entire index, the query speed is improved.
