Oracle RAC is not supported for one node is rhel5.x and the other node is rhel6.x
Because rhel5.x and Rhel 6.x are seen by Oracle as "different operating system versions"
The Oracle Solution SR engineers gave the following reply in full:
There shouldn ' t is any problem in installing RAC with different patch bundle as long as they is meeting with minimum requ Irement.
Oracle does not support running different operating system versions on cluster members, unless a operating system is bein G upgraded.
You cannot run different operating system version binaries on members of the same cluster, even if each operating system I s supported.
In the your case, it was not a different operating system version so there shouldn ' t was any problem. However, It's recommended to has both the OS at same patch bundle
My supplementary: The English answer above does not take into account the composition of ASM disk groups (Asmlib or raw).
The difference between Rhel 5.5 and Rhel 5.8 is that only OS patch Bundle, rhel 5.5 and Rhel 5.8 have the same operating system versions.
To extend: For a RAC under Windows, such as a 2-node Windows RAC, where one node is Windows 2003, the other node cannot be Windows 2008.
Oracle RAC is not supported for one node is rhel5.x and the other node is rhel6.x
