A static parameter file is a text file. The Oralce instance reads the content of this file at startup, So if you modify the content of this file, you must restart the Oracle instance to take effect.

On UNIX, this file is located in the $ ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory by default.

On the Window, this file is located in the $ ORACLE_HOME \ database directory by default.

Create PFILE

When installing the database, Oracle Universal Installer creates an initialization parameter file for reference, named init. ora. You can use this file to create a PFILE.

On windows, the file path is $ ORACLE_HOME \ srvm \ admin \ init. ora.

Assume that the database name is wind. The PFILE name of this database is initwind. ora.

Run the following command in windows to create an ECS instance:

Copy init. ora $ ORACLE_HOME \ database \ initwind. ora

Run the following command on UNIX to create an instance:

Cp init. ora $ ORACLE_HOME/dbs/initwind. ora

You can open this file in any text editor to edit it.
